Ella Rumpf and Monia Chokri are expecting a child in Proofs of Love: trailer
Alice Douard’s first feature film was presented at the Critics’ Week of the last Cannes Film Festival.
Céline is awaiting the arrival of her first child. But she is not pregnant. In three months, Nadia, his wife, will give birth to their daughter. Under the gaze of her friends, her mother, and in the eyes of the law, she seeks her place and her legitimacy.
After their awards at the 2024 Césars, Ella Rumpf (feminine revelation for Marguerite’s theorem) and Monia Chokri (best foreign film with Simple like Sylvain) are brought together on the screen in Proofs of lovewhich was presented last May at the Cannes Film Festival as part of Critics’ Week. Noémie Lovski plays the role of the mother.
Director Alice Douard (photo above) makes her first feature here, on a strong subject that she had already covered in her short films The Waitawarded the César. A subject also very personal, as she details in the press kit:
“Like Céline, my heroine, I expected my first child without carrying him. And I had to adopt it. A situation that generated lots of questions. The ones I asked myself, first. But also the many ones that others have asked me. There were no images or models to refer to. So I wanted to create these images and tell in an intimate way what really questions our way of doing things as a family.“
Proofs of love will be released in cinemas on November 19. Trailer:
