He will end 2026 by donning his Messiah costume in Dune 3but, in the meantime, it’s time to Marty Supremea high-energy portrait of a young New Yorker with irresistible charm and ready to devour the world with his full teeth. Could any resemblance between Marty and his interpreter Timothée Chalamet be purely coincidental? We asked the question to the most desired and busy actor of the moment. Timothée Chalamet tells us about his preparation for this role of table tennis champion, which director Josh Safdie presented to him in 2018, alongside specialist Diego Schaaf (who notably worked on Forrest Gump). He gives everything to succeed and achieve his goals (with the Oscar for best actor in his sights). And above all, he doesn’t hide it.

When I say that all the years I was working on becoming Dylan, I was also training to play ping pong like a champ, people don’t believe me. I swear it’s true! The role of Marty, in a way, I have the impression of having prepared for twenty-nine years. Quite simply because I too was this New York kid full of ambition and at war with the whole world.”

But Chalamet’s investment is not limited to the filming, where he watched every day The Last Dancethe documentary about basketball legend Michael Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls, for inspiration. Madness Marty Supremeit is also its incredible promo, between merchandising, airships and supercharged performances.

It’s more than involvement, actually: it’s a way of life. Because that’s what the times demand. People’s attention span is so short today… How do we convince them to go to the cinema, to spend money to see a film, rather than waiting to stream it illegally, or for it to be available on Netflix? (…) I have an audience, so I challenge them, and I give 150%.
