“It’s the nightmarish version of Emily in Paris.”

Full Phil was filmed last fall with two American stars, Kristen Stewart and Woody Harrelson, as headliners.

After Rubber, Wrong Cops And WrongQuentin Dupieux is tackling a new feature film in English. The last two featured the French actor and humorist Eric Judor. This time, it is a very Anglo-Saxon casting that the director reveals with actress Kristen Stewart (Twilight), Woody Harrelson (True Detective), and Emma Mackey (Sex education). As well as American comedians Eric Wareheim and Tim Heidecker, forming the comedy duo Tim & Eric.

Currently in post-production, the film was however shot in Paris. And we will also find in the casting the French-speaking Charlotte le Bon (White Lotus) and Nassim Lyes (Ad Vitam).

The director, interviewed by Varietyconfides his desire to shoot in English again after 10 French films:

When you change languages, your brain enters a slightly different zone. It’s really interesting.

Dupieux presents his film “as “Emily in Paris in hell, a fever dream, the nightmare version.”

Full Phil tells the story of a father (Woody Harrelson) who tries to reconnect with his daughter Madeleine (Kristen Stewart). The two find themselves in the middle of a colorful Parisian trip. Concerning the Harrelson-Stewart relationship, Dupieux explains that the film is based on a common alchemy between the two actors: “make the Kristen-Woody relationship believable” was the most important thing. Before adding: “They are very professional. It was never questioned. He is truly her father and she is truly his daughter.

Of Steak has The Piano Accidentthe filmmaker is known for his black comedies mixing the absurd and social criticism. The director specifies that the father-daughter relationship is not the main issue of his feature film: “The film is funny in other ways. I started with this father-daughter relationship, and then comes a second film within the film.” Not without making us think of his penultimate feature film, THE Second Actwhich hid two others.

Synopsis: In Paris, Philip Doom, a rich American industrialist, tries to reconnect with his daughter Madeleine. Unfortunately, French cuisine, a 1950s horror film and an intrusive hotel employee disrupt the smooth running of his stay…

Full Phil does not yet have a release date.
