For All Mankind: season 5 announced and also a Soviet spin-off!
The spin-off series “Star City” will explore the Soviet side of the conquest of space.
The dystopian universe created by Ronald D. Moore for Sony Pictures Television and Apple shows no signs of stopping. For All Mankind will continue with a fifth season, Apple TV+ announced today, a few months after the conclusion of season 4.
Season 5 does not yet have a release date, but should take place more or less in contemporary times, since season 4 took place in 2003.
Above all, Apple announces that the saga will expand with a spin-off. Creators Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi have signed a new spin-off series, Star Citythought as “a paranoid thriller that propels us to the key moment in the uchronistic history of the space race, when the Soviet Union became the first nation to set foot on the moon. But this time, the story unfolds behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the Soviet space program's cosmonauts, engineers and intelligence officers, and the risks each of them took to propel humanity into a new era.”
Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, who will be showrunners, explain this spin-off: “Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown over the seasons of For All Mankind. The more we learned about this secret city located in the forests around Moscow, where Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked, the more we wanted to tell this story from the other side of the space race.”
Star City has no date yet.
