Harlan Coben begins filming his new Netflix series

He will bring to the screen his novel In the Woods (The Woods), which he had already adapted for the first time in 2020 on the platform.

One missing. A twenty-year-old secret. And a hero who scratches where he shouldn’t.

Unstoppable thriller machine, Harlan Coben continues to flood Netflix. And his next series is already launched.

It will be The Woods. A new adaptation of his novel published in 2007, under the title In the Woods in France. It will also mark… its 14th collaboration with the platform!

What is it about?

“Twenty years ago, Paul “Cope” Copeland’s sister, Camille, disappeared from a forest summer camp, a disappearance that tore her family apart. Now a renowned lawyer and devoted single father to his ten-year-old daughter Cami, Cope appears to have rebuilt his life,” the Netflix synopsis reads. “But when a man’s body is found – twenty years after his supposed death alongside Camille’s – Cope becomes convinced that his sister may have survived. Determined to uncover the truth, Cope reunites with his first love, Lucy Silverfield, and together they embark on a quest for answers, unearthing years of lies, cover-ups and family secrets that threaten to destroy everything he has built.

This project also has a very personal dimension for Harlan Coben. Almost twenty years after the book’s release, the author still considers it one of his most intimate. “It’s one of my most personal novels,” he confides to Tudum. “Like my hero Paul Copeland, I worked as a summer camp counselor when I was still too young for the job.”

Proof that the story has been following him for a long time: The Woods had already been adapted for the first time as a series for Netflix. A polo series at the time, released in 2020 under the title In the Woods in France (photo above).

On the casting side, we will see Michelle Keegan return, who had carried a previous adaptation by the author: Double Piège (Fool me Once) in 2024.

Moreover, Danny Brocklehurst, already behind Fool Me Once, is writing the series.

Filming is underway in Manchester and the northwest of England. No release date yet.
