In Avatar 4 and 5, James Cameron will return to the origins of the saga
The next installments of Avatar will teach us a little more about Grace’s arrival in Pandora.
While last month Sam Worthington, who plays Jake Sully, confirmed that certain scenes fromAvatar 4 And 5 had already been filmed, we learn a little more about what these latest opuses will tell!
After Avatar: The Way of Water andAvatar: Of Fire and Ashesthe next films will not only recount adventures on the planet Pandora. They will also focus on its origins of the story. Basically, we don’t really know when Grace landed on Pandora or why she is at the head of this project. The creator of the program Avatar never even appeared in the franchise, its existence is barely known to viewers.
In Joe Fordham’s book, The making of AvatarJames Cameron claims that these new components will answer these questions:
“When did (Grace) arrive on Pandora? Who was his mentor? How did she inherit the Avatar program? I found a backstory around Grace and the guy she ended up replacing, her mentor, Avatar Program founder Brantley Giess.”
Elements that have been on the filmmaker’s mind since the beginning of the saga, but which he simply could not integrate into the first film.
The character of Giess was well planned for the casting, but as the story was written, the hero architect of the entire Avatar universe ended up disappearing from the landscape.
As a reminder, the director of Titanic also announced that actress Michelle Yeoh would be there: “Michelle Yeoh will definitely be in Avatar 4 (…) Michelle will be in Avatar 4 and Avatar 5.”. He specified: “She will play a character in performance capture, a Na’vi named Palakpuelat “.
Sigourney Weaver, the interpreter of Grace, will therefore be at the center of the next films, continuing the very fruitful collaboration between the filmmaker and the actress, which began in 1986 with the famous Aliens, the return. She received her first Oscar nomination for best actress for this role.
Avatar: Of Fire and Ash accumulates 1.4 billion dollars in theatrical revenue. A very good score which should allow the rest of the franchise to see the light of day.
