James Gunn reveals more about the Green Lantern series and its release date
“It will be released in the same waters as the release of the film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow…”
James Gunn will soon officially kick off its DCUniverse. The animated series Creature Commandos will be broadcast on December 5 (on Max in France) and the boss of DC Studios announces in IGN what will happen next:
“It will be, concretely: Creature Commandos Then SupermanThen PeacemakerThen Lanterns and then Supergirl. And also other things that people don’t know yet…”
This provides some visibility on the upcoming calendar. Superman will continue the saga of the new DCU in July 2025, followed by season 2 of the series led by John Cena. So we should see the series Green Lantern at the end of spring 2026 and thereafter Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrowwhose cinema date is already set for June 26, 2026.
“We are preparing to launch the production of Lanterns Currently. And it will be broadcast in the same waters as Supergirl bulk”.
James Gunn continues and assures that screenwriters Chris Mundy, Tom King and Damon Lindelof “have written an incredible series. It’s very realistic, very believable, very real. The kind of thing you never thought you’d see in a Green Lantern TV series. It’s very human, very adult. So I’m really excited for people to see that.”
The producer also validates the choices ofAaron Pierre (in the role of John Stewart) and Kyle Chandler (in the role of Hal Jordan), which were chosen by the three screenwriters. “It was their choices. I totally supported them. I love them.”
In the history of the new series Green Lanternwhich will be seen in France on Max, we will follow the new recruit of the Green Lantern Corps John Stewart, on a mission with legend Hal Jordan. They will form together “a duo of intergalactic cops drawn into a dark earthly mystery as they investigate a murder in the heart of America.”
