John Travolta will return to Cannes with his first directorial film
In Night Flight to Los Angeles, the actor will share his fascination with aviation and direct his daughter, Ella Bleu.
We’ve known it for a long time: John Travolta is an aviation enthusiast. So it made sense that his directorial debut revolved around a plane.
It’s called Night Flight to Los Angelesand it is an Apple Original Films film.
The studio announces today that this feature film will make its world premiere at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, in the official Cannes Première selection. The opportunity to see the actor again on the Croisette, 32 years after the famous climb of the steps of pulp Fiction. The last time he was on the Côte d’Azur was to present Gotti in 2018.
In recent years, the 72-year-old actor has been more discreet, releasing direct-to-video products. But this time, he returns to the light with this first film. John Travolta also directs his daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, and tells a story that sounds like an almost autobiographical tale:
“In the golden age of aviation, Jeff (played by Clark Shotwell), a young boy passionate about aeronautics, takes off alongside his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) for a one-way trip to Hollywood, crossing the United States. What could have been just a simple flight becomes the trip of a lifetime. Between the dishes served on board, the attention of the hostesses (played by Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffmann), unexpected stopovers, colorful travelers and a memorable passage through first class, the adventure reserves moments as magical as they are surprising, marking the destiny of the young boy forever.”
Night Flight to Los Angeles is a JTP Films Inc and Kids At Play production. The film is produced by John Travolta through JTP Productions.
Night Flight to Los Angeles will be available on May 29, 2026 on Apple TV.
