A biopic dedicated to the painter Amedeo Modigliani.
It’s been almost 30 years since Johnny Depp had not made a feature film. After The Bravein 1997, the actor went back behind the camera to Modi. And the filming is over. The first behind-the-scenes footage has been released online, showing Johnny Depp at the helm, directing this biopic dedicated to the painter Amedeo Modigliani, who will be played by Riccardo Scamarcio.
“Embarking on this cinematic journey as Modi’s director has been an incredibly rewarding and transformative experience”comments Johnny Depp in the press release. “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the entire cast, crew and producers. And to Al, who asked me to make this film: how could I refuse Pacino? A sincere recognition for having generously contributed his talent and dedication to this project.”

Because Al Pacino will play an important role in this biopic, which will tell “the Italian artist’s life in a whirlwind 48 hours, capturing a series of chaotic events in the streets and bars of a Paris torn apart by the First World War. Fleeing the police, he is rejected by his fellow bohemians. The chaos comes to a head when he comes face to face with a collector who could change his life.” Al Pacino will play the collector in question, the French Maurice Gangnat.
Modi was filmed primarily in Budapest, Romania. Antonia Desplat, Stephen Graham, Bruno Gouery, Ryan McParland, Luisa Ranieri and Sally Phillips complete the cast. No release date yet.
