Jury Prize at Cannes, Echoes of the Past unveils its trailer

The German film by Mascha Schilinski will arrive in France early next year.

Echoes of the past will soon resonate in our rooms.

Six months after causing a sensation on the Croisette, the German film directed by Mascha Schilinski arrives in France. The trailer has just been posted online.

Echoes of the past (which was called Sound of Falling in Cannes) follows four young girls in four different eras. “Alma, Erika, Angelika and Lenka spend their adolescence on the same farm in northern Germany. As the house transforms over the century, echoes of the past resonate within its walls. Despite the years that separate them, their lives seem to respond to each other.”

The cast includes Hanna Heckt, Lena Urzendowsky, Susanne Wuest, Lea Drinda, Laeni Geiseler, Greta Krämer, Florian Geißelmann, Luise Heyer, Luzia Oppermann, Filip Schnack, Konstantin Lindhorst and Claudia Geisler-Bading.

The film won the Jury Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and Echoes of the past will also represent Germany in the Best International Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.

Released on January 7 in cinemas in France.
