Two years ago, Ke Huy Quan won the Oscar from the best supporting role to Everything Everywhere All at Once. A beautiful story like Hollywood loves them for the actor of Vietnamese origin who had experienced an endless crossing of the desert after his noticed beginnings in Indiana Jones and the Cursed TempleThen GOONIES. A year later, we learned that he had won the first main role of his career, at 52, in an action comedy with Ariana Debose.
Unfortunately, Back to business (Love Hurts In VO) was massacred by US criticism (only 18% of positive opinions listed by Rotten Tomatoes), and the sanction of the public fell this weekend. With $ 5.8 million in revenue, the film that will be released in France on May 14 has made a very small start and must be satisfied with third place. Hard for Ke Huy Quan, which will soon be found on the bill of The Electric State (March 14 on Netflix), the new blockbuster of the Russo brothers.
The animated film Dog Man Keep his head for the 2nd consecutive week, with $ 13.7 million harvested (54 million cumulative), in front of another novelty: Heart Eyesa horror comedy against a backdrop of Valentine’s Day. The top 5 is completed by Mufasawhich totals 235 million revenues (671 million worldwide) and the psychological thriller Companion which is already almost profitable for Warner Bros. (26.7 million for 10 million budgets).
The weekend of Super bowl is always complicated for American cinemas. A hundred million spectators attended the victory of the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday over the Eagles of Philadelphia. The box office should find colors next weekend with the release of the new Marvel, Captain America: Brave New World.
