King and Conqueror: a Game of Thrones duel soon on Canal+

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and James Norton star in this historic British series.

Last August, King and Conqueror was broadcast for the first time on the BBC. We see Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones) and James Norton (the future Ormund Hightower from season 3 of House of the Dragon) clash in the roles of William of Normandy and Harold Wessex.

A very British historical series in which we also find the casting of two French actors: Clémence Poésy (En Thérapie), in the role of Mathilde, Guillaume’s wife, and Jean-Marc Barr in that of Henri, the king of France. Alongside them, Emily Beecham (award winning actress at Cannes for Little Joe) plays Edith, Harold’s wife.

This fiction inspired by real events, created by screenwriter Michael Robert Johnson (Sherlock Holmes, Pompeii, Mute…) immerses us in 11th century England. When King Edward the Confessor, who reigns without an heir, dies, two pretenders to the crown, William of Normandy and Harold of Wessex, initially partners, will compete to conquer it.

Canal+ announced the launch of this mini-series in 8 episodes of 52 minutes, simultaneously in more than forty countries on the African and European continent where it is present. This is the first time that the channel has offered a major multi-territory launch for an acquisition series.

King and Conqueror will be broadcast from February 12 on Canal+.
