Léa Seydoux makes her first A24 film with a young Oscar-winning star
The French star joins Mikey Madison in the casting of an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe for the cinema.
New American project for Léa Seydoux. The actress of Mission: Impossible And Dying can wait just officially joined the cast of the film The Mask of the Red Death (The Masque of the Red Death) a rereading of Edgar Allan Poe’s iconic short story.
According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Léa Seydoux will play a “manipulative companion, willing to intrigue her way up the ladder.” She will opposite Mikey Madison, recently crowned with the Oscar for Best Actress for Anorain what promises to be one of the studio’s most ambitious projects, even if a release date has not yet been set.
For the moment, little information has filtered out on this adaptation.
Originally published in 1842, The Masque of the Red Death is a short story by the legendary Edgar Allan Poe. It tells the story of Prince Prospero, who tries to escape a deadly plague nicknamed the “Red Death” by taking refuge in his abbey. He organizes a masked ball there, soon disrupted by the appearance of a mysterious figure embodying the Red Death himself.
The film will be directed by Charlie Polinger, who recently signed his first feature film, The Plaguereleased in 2025.
The film was initially supposed to star Sydney Sweeney, before she was replaced by Mikey Madison due to scheduling conflicts.
