Marty Supreme debuts better than Bob Dylan at the French box office

Almost 100,000 spectators have already seen Timothée Chalamet playing ping-pong in the halls of France. The American Dream by Raphaël Quenard and Jean-Pascal Zadi is just behind.

Excellent service from Timothée Chalamet. His latest film, Marty Supremestarted its game in France in the best possible way by taking the lead in the new releases box office. Josh Safdie’s feature film attracted more than 50,000 spectators across 512 theaters on Wednesday and has almost 90,000 spectators already in France, thanks to its numerous previews. Marty Supreme starts much better than A complete stranger. The biopic dedicated to Bob Dylan released a year ago posted 52,000 admissions at the same time (including 21,000 AVP), before ending its career just above a million. On the other hand, Timothée Chalamet was much stronger with Wonka after 1 day: 185,000 entries (including 91,000 in AVP) in December 2023, ending at 3.7 million fans.

Marty Supreme does better than The American dream. The biopic about two French NBA agents, directed by Anthony Marciano, is already at a good distance: 50,000 spectators on the clock after this first day, a score boosted to 50% by the previews. This is, at this point, the best start for a film by the director, much better than Play and just ahead The Kids (42,000).

Finally, we will note on the podium the more modest score of the new adaptation of Maigret. This time, it’s Denis Podalydès who smokes a pipe while carrying out investigations. Maigret and the dead lover displays approximately 15,000 tickets sold through 248 cinemas (without AVP). A good start for director Pascal Bonitzer, but quite far from the start of Maigret Depardieu version, which already totaled 60,000 entries in 2022 at the same time (but with 19,800 in AVP) before ending up at 550,000 tickets.
