Melrose Place announces its comeback! A sequel, 25 years later, is in preparation
Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton and Daphne Zuniga will be the three stars of this sequel, which is looking for a broadcaster.
Attention, cult series! A true television legend of the 1990s, Melrose Place is preparing to reopen its doors. A revival of the drama is being prepared according to Deadline, which specifies that it will definitely be a form of sequel, since several female stars from the original show will be back: Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton And Daphne Zuniga. They should reprise their roles: Amanda Woodward, the ruthless queen of advertising, Sydney, Jane's Machiavellian sister who stole her husband (!) and the kind photographer Jo. Deadline reports that more original cast members are expected to join the new series, if it comes to fruition.
Because this sequence of Melrose Place is not yet signed. The project is currently being sold to American channels and streaming platforms. This new series will be written by Lauren Gussis (Insatiable) and would pick up the story years after the end of Melrose Place. Former residents reunite”when one of their dearest friends dies suddenly. But the reunion brings up old traumas, rekindles old romances, resentments and reveals new secrets. The characters will once again be plunged into a chaotic drama like in the old days… but with a much more modern perspective” teases the official synopsis.
It must be remembered that Melrose Place is, originally, a spin-off of Beverly Hills, 90210launched in 1992 and lasted 7 seasons and 226 episodes.
We have already forgotten it, but a revival of the series was already attempted by the CW channel in 2009, which attempted a completely new casting (even if Locklear, Leighton and Zuniga were already there as guest stars). Without success. This reboot was canceled after just one season.
