Anthony Hopkins to play King Herod in major biblical film
Mary will tell the Story of the Virgin, pregnant and forced to hide, to avoid the Massacre of the Innocents.
This is a major episode from the Gospel according to Matthew. Anthony Hopkins will play King Herod in Marya biblical film written by Timothy Michael Hayeswho will tell “the adolescence of Marie, pregnant with a miraculous child and forced to hide”, we read in the official description. “King Herod's relentless drive to maintain his power at all costs triggers the murderous pursuit of the newborn who he believes poses a threat to his rule. The film shows how young Mary and Joseph are on the run, trying to hide their baby, Jesus.”
Anthony Hopkins explain : “At this time in my life, I am drawn to the challenge of complex scenarios. Additionally, the level of detail brought to this production with extraordinary sets, props and costumes makes me proud to be a part of it.”
The epic therefore promises to be very religious. Timothy Michael Hayes consulted “priests, bishops, Baptist ministers, rabbis, Mormons, Muslims, biblical scholars and theologians” to write his biblical feature film.
The young Mila Harris21, from Disney Channel, will play Marie while the actor Ido Tako will play Joseph.
Stephanie Nur will play Salomé, Susan Brown will play Anna the prophetess, Ori Pfeffer will take the role of Joachim.
