Sofia Coppola almost directed the last Twilight, but “the baby was too weird”
“I thought the wolf’s imprinting was weird, but then the baby…”
While his film Priscilla will be released at the beginning of 2024, Sofia Coppola gave an interview to Rolling Stone. The Coppola heiress discussed her new film as well as other, more surprising projects, including directing the latest film in the hit franchise Twilight.
“We had an interview, which led to nothing (…) I found that the impregnation of the wolf was weird, but then the baby… Even weirder! On the other hand, part of the previous parts Twilight could have been interesting. I thought it might have been fun to make a romantic teen movie with vampires, but the last movie went too far“, explains the director.
Twilight back soon? Vampires could be readapted into series!
Twilight isn’t the only popular film that Sofia Coppola almost made. The director was also approached to direct the live action film of The little Mermaid for Universal, without it succeeding. Nothing is lost, the one who made an appearance in Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace persists in declaring that she will one day make a genre film.
“I think it would be fun to do sci-fi, not necessarily gore, I like gothic horror more“, she concludes.
While waiting for the director to take the plunge into science fiction, Priscilla will be released on January 3, 2024 in France.
