Meryl Streep ready for Mamma Mia 3? “Of course I want to do it”
The three-time Oscar-winning actress was offered the Honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and looked back on the important roles of her career… including that of Donna Sheridan.
Present on the Croisette to receive an honorary Palme d’Or, Meryl Streep, actress with a monumental career, opened up about her next projects. Among them, the idea of reprising the role of Donna Sheridan for a third part of Mamma Mia! : “Of course I want to do it, I think people love these films”she replies when asked if she would one day set foot in the world of this musical comedy, relayed by Variety.
But this return may be a little complicated… Spoiler alert!
The return would require a sufficiently convincing scenario to make us forget that in the second film, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, his absence was explained by the death of his character. It was then without Donna that Sophie Sheridan (Amanda Seyfried) reopened the hotel on the charming Greek island of Kalokairi.
“I don't know how they're going to do it. They have an ideareports Deadline. I haven't heard it yet, but it's in (my calendar) and I'll hear about it very soon.”
The three-time Oscar-winning actress also explains that she regrets not appearing more in Here We Go Againbut his (almost) always agent, Kevin Huvanestates: “We are optimistic”.
We hope that the writers will be able to find a way to bring back the “dancing queen”who took advantage of the climb up the steps of the festival's opening ceremony to show off her best dance moves.
First prestigious climb of the stairs for Greta Gerwig, Léa Seydoux, Eva Green…
