Myster Mask: Disney+ orders the animated series

Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen and Kathryn Newton will lend their voices to the heroes of this new version of the cult series.

Myster Mask is back!

Disney+ is ordering a new animated series dedicated to Darkwing Duck, the famous vigilante duck from Bourg-les-Canards, with a particularly attractive voice cast.

Mark Hamill will voice Drake Mallard and his masked alter ego, while Seth Rogen will lend his voice to his faithful sidekick Flagada Jones. Kathryn Newton will play Firecracker.

Behind this new adaptation, we find Sean Tretta (Star Trek: Picard) and Borja Peña Gorostegui (Lost & Crowned), executive producers of the series. Seth Rogen’s company, Point Gray Pictures, will also produce the show with Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee and Gabby Grantham.

Good news for nostalgic fans: Tad Stones, creator of the original series, returns as creative consultant.

Launched in 1991, Myster Mask had 91 episodes and followed Drake Mallard, a vigilante duck who led a double life under the mask of Darkwing Duck.

The new series will begin as Drake is faced with a problem that he certainly did not anticipate: after spending 35 years prisoner in a parallel dimension, the hero has almost fallen into oblivion. In this new reality, no one knows who Myster Mask is and no one remembers his old adventures. Everything changes with the arrival of Duckie, a rebellious teenager from Drake’s original universe. She will succeed in convincing the former vigilante to return to service. But their return to fighting crime will quickly take on a whole new dimension when a threat to the multiverse arises.

Drake will then find Flagada Jones, but also his adopted daughter Gosalyn Mallard and Morgana Macawber. Several of his emblematic enemies will also be there, starting with Megavolt and especially Negaduck, his great rival.

The voice cast also includes Lizzy Caplan in the role of Gosalyn, Lilimar in that of Duckie, as well as Dan Stevens, Tiffany Shepis, Teo Briones, Tyler Dean Flores, Katie Rich and Nat Faxon.
