Netflix cancels In the Shadow of the Magnolias: no season 6

The romantic series ends here. But the streamer does not intend to part ways with its creator Sheryl J. Anderson and its star JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who will find themselves on a new family fiction.

Goodbye Serenity!

In the Shade of the Magnolias has just been canceled. Netflix has just said goodbye to its romantic series after five seasons.

Launched in May 2020, the fiction adapted from the novels by Sherryl Woods followed the friendship and heart stories of Maddie, Dana Sue and Helen, three inseparable friends living in Serenity, South Carolina. JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott and Heather Headley starred.

Season 5 was broadcast last June on the platform. There will therefore be no season 6.

Creator and showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson reacted to this end on Instagram, thanking the teams and fans of the series.

“Living on Serenity for five seasons has been a privilege and a blessing. Although our adventure has sadly come to an end, I hope Serenity will always have a place in your heart.”

The good news is that this collaboration with Netflix doesn’t stop there.

The platform is in fact preparing Ladies of the House, a new series developed by Sheryl J. Anderson with JoAnna Garcia Swisher starring. The latter therefore finds her showrunner after five years spent in the shoes of Maddie Townsend.

Netflix is thus retaining part of the team behind In the Shadow of the Magnolias for this new fiction, which should remain in a register mixing family, friendship and romance.

No date yet.
