New York Knicks superstar to star in New York: Special Victims Unit

Jalen Brunson will soon trade his Knicks jersey for a role in the cult detective series.

After the courts, head to the television sets!

Jalen Brunson, the star of the New York Knicks, NBA champion last June, will take his first steps in New York: Special Unit. NBC has just confirmed that the ringleader will appear as a guest star in an episode of the 28th season of the detective series.

The new season will begin on October 8 across the Atlantic, while the episode with Brunson will be broadcast on November 5. For now, however, NBC is keeping his character a secret. It is therefore impossible to know whether he will play his own role, a police officer or a completely different character.

This appearance had obviously been in the pipeline for some time. Jalen Brunson and Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson, have been friends for a long time. The actress is notably a regular in the stands of Madison Square Garden to attend Knicks games.

After the Knicks’ NBA title – the franchise’s first in 53 years – Jalen Brunson spoke of his desire to participate in New York: Special Unit when asked what he planned to do during the offseason: “I’m going to try to appear in SVU.”

Mariska Hargitay then confirmed that the project was indeed real. “It’s definitely going to happen. He’s pretty amazing in that way. He’s open to anything and ready for anything. I don’t think there’s much Jalen can’t do!”

The two friends have already shared the screen this year: Brunson appeared alongside Hargitay in a sketch recorded for the 2026 Emmy Awards, for which the actress was the presenter.
