Four years later Athena and while waiting for his project inspired by the Louvre heist, Romain Gavras makes his return with Sacrificehis first English-language film. A satire co-written with the American playwright and screenwriter Will Arbery supported by an XXL cast: Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Vincent Cassel, Salma Hayek, John Malkovich and the singer and actress Charli XCX.

As Athena, Sacrifice will be released in France directly on Netflix on October 16. The trailer promises an action comedy about a group of environmental activists led by Anya Taylor-Joy who burst into a gala of the ultra-rich. They kidnap three of them to offer as sacrifices to the Mountain of Fire to prevent a climate catastrophe.

Synopsis: During a charity gala full of celebrities, billionaires and fine speeches, a Hollywood actor in the midst of an existential crisis (Chris Evans) is taken hostage by a radical activist (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her disciples. As the evening descends into chaos, a journey begins that is both interior and exterior, gradually blurring the line between staging and belief, between salvation and sacrifice.

Sacrifice was presented last year at the Toronto Film Festival, where it received a mixed reception from the press with only 37% positive reviews recorded on Rotten Tomatoes. Netflix acquired the rights for the United States and France during the Film Market of the last Cannes Film Festival. Trailer:
