No, Margot Robbie does not plan to produce the Britney Spears biopic

The publication of the memoirs of Britney Spears, accompanied by an audio version narrated by actress Michelle Williams, was unsurprisingly followed by rumors about its upcoming screen adaptation. The journey, both successful and chaotic, of the singer “Baby One More Time” would thus interest Reese Witherspoon, Brad Pitt, Shonda Rhimes and Margot Robbiewho are reportedly in the process of negotiating the rights of Woman in Me.
Of these four names revealed last week by Page Sixtwo have already denied: the creator of Grey’s Anatomy contacted the site directly to say that “Shondaland was not involved in this project”. She was probably cited because she co-wrote and produced Crossroads, worn by Britney Spears in 2002? A road movie which was a flop upon its release and remains the only film in which the global star plays the leading role.

That of barbie for her part took advantage of the Power of Women event organized by Variety to affirm that she did not intend to adapt The Woman in me. “Tonight is the first time I’ve heard that, it’s not true”answer to Access Hollywood the co-founder of the company LuckyChap, with which she notably supported Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster. Will the rights to the book be recovered by Hello Sunshine, Reese Witherspoon’s company (behind Big Little Liesamong others) or not Plan B, that of Brad Pitt (She Said, Blonde…)? The two parties have not yet reacted.
Page Six also specifies that this biopic project would only be in its infancy: we do not even know if it will be a film or a TV series. the star has in any case already been the subject of documentaries, notably Framing Britney Spearsdesigned by FX in 2021. But the publication of her memoirs allowed her to reveal multiple personal anecdotes, and to denounce the bad actions of her father, who had placed her under guardianship and directed her life for several years, or of his ex-companions, notably Justin Timberlake.
