Nostalgic James Gunn and Chris Pratt celebrate 10 years of Guardians of the Galaxy
Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket and all the others arrived in theaters in August 2014.
“This is the kind of film you buy your cinema ticket for.”
In the summer of 2014, First did not hide his pleasure in discovering Guardians of the Galaxy on the big screen. “It lives very well apart from the rest of the Marvel super-movies, was also written about the blockbuster of James Gunnalthough there are discreet references to other films (the McGuffin of Guardians return to Thor 2 And Avengers) by Kevin Feige. It is mainly a space opera where a band of misfits brought together somewhat by chance find themselves having to save the galaxy from a villain like they don’t make anymore, who wants to blow up a planet because of hereditary hatred. The film manages to present the Guardians to us in a truly balanced and completely funny way. Yes, Vin Diesel double a naive tree man and it works. Yes, Bradley Cooper plays a crazy raccoon and it works (best movie character of the year?). Yes, Zoe Saldana has a badass role to match (we suspected it since Colombian). Yes, the ex-wrestler Dave Bautista proves to be very gifted at playing a melancholic warrior who is unable to understand the second degree (inexhaustible source of very stupid dialogues). Very clearly, it is the relationship between this “bunch of idiots” as a space cop calls them, which makes the film so interesting: watching them argue and fight is a real pleasure – especially since the fight scenes are well written and filmed, always very entertaining.”
Ten years and quite a few twists and turns later – let’s remember that the screenwriter and director was fired from Marvel between the Volume 2 And 3then rehired but forced to take into account the plot ofAvengers 3 And 4 in its history, notably the “new Gamora”-, James Gunn has left to direct a new Superman for competitor DC/Warner, but he retains a certain attachment to his Guardians.
“Yesterday we wrapped up filming of Superman, he writes on X. And today marks the tenth anniversary of the theatrical release of Guardians of the Galaxy in Europe (we were on the road, in full promotion and we were overjoyed when we saw the first reviews coming in). It was a great ten years.”

Michael Mann loves rewatching Guardians of the Galaxy
The actor who plays Peter Quill/Star-Lord is also moved as he celebrates this 10th anniversary:
“Today is the 10th anniversary of the arrival of the Guardians of the Galaxy at the movies. Can you believe it? What an adventure. I love this cast, this crew, everyone involved. And I’m so grateful to the fans! You changed my life. Same goes for James Gunn, who gave this sweet idiot a chance Parks and Rec. Thanks dude.”

Guardians of the Galaxy: Why does Baby Groot stop dancing when Drax looks at him?
THE different members of the Guardians of the Galaxy will certainly return in future big Marvel productions, but not all of them: Zoe Saldana warned when the last installment of the trilogy was released that this film would mark the end of her interpretation of Gamora (will the heroine return younger, played by another actress?), and Dave Bautista expressed his wish to no longer embody Draxfeeling “too old” to play such a muscular being.
Ten years later, the first opus of the Guardians is still seen as an excellent example of Hollywood entertainment, fun, rhythmic, carried by invested actors and a common desire to have fun. “Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga!”
If you’re as nostalgic as James Gunn, the film is worth watching again on First Max.
