Pedro Pascal will replace Joaquin Phoenix in the gay romance of Todd Haynes

The joker actor suddenly fled the shooting of Noche in 2024, stopping a whole production alone. The film will be reborn from its ashes.

The sudden departure of Joaquin Phoenix, 5 days before the start of filming, had caused a stir last year, causing up to a questioning of the status of the star in Hollywood.

But the project seems to be reborn: Pedro Pascal is in advanced negotiations to use the main role in Nochethe romantic queer drama of Todd Haynes, whose production is preparing to restart.

If the agreement concludes, Pascal would give the reply to Danny Ramirez. The duo would play a corrupt cop and their young lover, on the run from Los Angeles from the 1930s to Mexico. Initially attached to the project, Phoenix had left the film at the last minute, stopping a shoot that was to start in Guadalajara.

Pascal’s potential arrival comes as the actor is going through a record year: second appointment to the Emmy Awards for season 2 of The Last of Us On HBO, and a remarkable presence in the cinema with three long -awaited projects – The Fantastic Four at Marvel, Matters And Eddington For A24.

Note that Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler (Killer Films), behind the production of Noche,, recently worked with Pedro Pascal since they produced Matters. And irony of Hollywood fate: Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal were facing themselves in Edding This summer.

After the departure of Joaquin Phoenix, director Todd Haynes had expressed the hope that the film could be reborn: “What happened this summer was difficult … But the film and the script (co-written with Jon Raymond) could reappear in another form one day. ” This is obviously the case today.

Noche does not yet have a film or release date.
