Scream 8? Possible, but without Kevin Williamson

“I will probably take a step back” warns the director of Scream 7 and creator of the saga.

Kevin Williamson, screenwriter of the very first Screamcame back for Scream 7which he also directed, marking his first steps in the franchise behind the camera. Financially, the film is already a hit and has grossed $151 million worldwide. Despite mixed reviews, it will undoubtedly be the biggest success of the saga at the box office.

What to hope for Scream 8 ? Yes, but without him!

On the occasion of the premiere of Scream 7Williamson had confided that he had started to “throw ideas” For Scream 8and that Neve Campbell, historic star of the saga, had a “great idea” for this eighth opus. After the box office success of the seventh film, this new sequel seems almost inevitable.

But there’s a twist: Williamson doesn’t plan to direct this new episode. In an interview with Hello Sidneyhe explained that he instead wanted to focus on other projects, including a few TV series.

“I think for the next Scream, I’ll probably take a step back and just go back to being a member of the family,” he declared. “I want to direct another film that I wrote, but I have to find the time. Right now, I’m working on a few TV series. Maybe I’ll direct one, who knows.”

Williamson adds: “It’s nice to be part of the Scream family. It doesn’t mean I always have to be on the front lines. I don’t always have to be writing or directing. Others can take the reins.”

For the record, Williamson signed the first four films, then served as executive producer on Scream 5 And Scream VI.

After directing Scream 7, he should therefore return to a more behind-the-scenes role for Scream 8
