We know the story of Big Little Lies 3

Season 3 of Big Little Lies has started filming… the rest in 2027

A first day of production took place last week… for financial reasons.

Back to Monterey?

Yes, but not really. Filming for season 3 of Big Little Lies officially began last week… for just one day!

According to information from Variety, the HBO series set its cameras on the set of The Ranch Lot on Thursday at Warner Bros. Studios. from Burbank, California.

No Nicole Kidman, no Reese Witherspoon, no Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern or even Zoë Kravitz. Among the actors present was Merrin Dungey, who reprises her role of Detective Adrienne Quinlan, who appeared in the first two seasons.

Because for the moment it is only a single day of shooting… intended to preserve the California tax credit already granted to the production. Actual filming is not expected to begin until 2027, although no specific date has yet been set. But this concrete launch of production confirms that this season 3 will indeed happen.

California regulations require productions to begin principal photography within 180 days following the conditional allocation of their tax credit, or within 240 days for projects whose eligible expenditure budget exceeds $100 million.

The third season should be based on Liane Moriarty’s new novel, Big Little Truths, published last August. The author finds Madeline, Celeste, Jane, Renata and Bonnie there, ten years after the previous events. This time jump should serve as the backbone of the next season.

The name of the director has not yet been officially announced.

After several years of waiting, the return of Big Little Lies is indeed underway…
