House of the Dragon: what the rest of season 2 has in store for us (trailer)
“I will kill him! I declare war!”
The return to Westeros was cruel. Last Monday, season 2 of House of the Dragon launched its first episode. And although it “only” attracted 7.8 million viewers in the United States – three million less than the pilot of the first season – it posted a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. Will it be the same for the episodes to follow? While waiting for the broadcast of the second episode next Monday, the Max platform recently published a new trailer which promises fire and blood. Spoiler alert!
The inevitable happened. The infamous episode of GRR Martin fans – “Blood & Cheese” closed episode 1, leaving a distraught Haleana following the assassination of her eldest son, Jaehaerys, whom she saw herself sacrificed to save the life of her daughter, sponsored by Daemon Targaryen. It’s the extra drop of blood that causes the chalice to overflow. The Dance of Dragons begins.
House of the Dragon, season 2: the shocking scene at the end of episode 1 explained
“I will kill them! I declare war!” The time is no longer for talks and peace. The children’s laughter, which introduces the new trailer, gives way to a cry of rage – that of Aegon. Following the death of the heir, Team Green seeks revenge. On the Black side, Rhaenyra considers this movement as an amputation and tensions arise between her and her husband, who is solely responsible for this assassination.
As in the novel from which the series is based, we find the main threads woven by the author: the hunt for assassins throughout King’s Landing, the revolution in the streets of the city, the dragons floating above heads, the fall of the Hand of the King, Otto Hightower and the ascension of Ser Criston Cole.
The pawns are being put in place, the ground armed forces join those of the dragons in the air and the battles promise to be particularly bloody. At the heart of this whole scheme: Harrenhal. Stronghold where a large number of issues in this season 2 take place…
What will happen there? To find out, you will have to watch the following episode available on Max next Monday. “There is no more room for pity.”
