Selena Gomez to make adult film with Oscar-winning filmmaker
Director of last year’s The Brutalist, Bradley Corbet will direct the Disney star in an “X-rated” film in the United States. Explanations.

The Disney star, already astonishing in Jacques Audiard in Emilia Pérez (in 2024) is preparing to go even further for Brady Corbet.

More precisely, this term is no longer an official classification of the Motion Picture Association (the American censorship body) but it remains loaded with meaning: it evokes very crude content, often associated with a strong sexual dimension. In the current system, the film should therefore be released under the highest officially recognized classification: NC-17, i.e. a film reserved for adults (literally prohibited for those under 17).
We will therefore be far from Wizards of Waverly Placeor investigations of Only Murders in the Building. Journalist Jeff Sneider, who revealed that Selena Gomez would play the main role, specifies that the story will extend from the 19th century to today, with a narrative heart set in the 1970s. The film should evoke “American mysticism and its occult history”. Presented as a horror western, the film should be called The Origin Of The World (The Origin of the World) and promises to be very focused on the spiritual, based on the research of occult historian Mitch Horowitz, evoking American belief systems and their transmission over time.
