Counterfeit money but real success for the start of this film with Reda Kateb

The Bojarski Affair marks a better launch than 28 years later: The Temple of the Dead.

For its first day in French cinemas, The Bozharsky Affair brought together nearly 34,000 spectators (including 50,000 previews). With an average of 60 entries per copy, the strongest new releases this week.

Reda Kateb plays Jan Bojarski, this complex historical character who made false papers during the German occupation, before becoming the “Cézanne of counterfeit money“, alongside Sara Giraudeau, Bastien Bouillon and Pierre Lottin.

We are far from the best launches of Jean-Paul Salomé (Belphegor had come close to 140,000 admissions in 2001), but it is better than these two previous feature films directed by Isabelle Huppert, The Daronne And The Syndicalistwhich recorded 25,000 and 30,000 entries respectively at the same stage.

28 Years Later: The Temple of the Dead can only bow. The new part of the saga directed by Nia DaCosta takes second place with almost 14,000 tickets sold. This is half as much as the previous film, which benefited from a larger number of theaters. But he is ahead Greenland: Migration (10,000 spectators), the apocalyptic B series with Gerard Butler yet distributed on 100 more copies.

Behind, Furcy, born free displays 8,000 entries for its first day. But we must salute the work done by Memento on the previews. Abd al Malik’s film, where Makita Samba plays a slave fighting for his freedom, has 45,000 tickets if we take them into account. The Italian film Eleonara Dusewith Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, completes the top 5.
