Stormwind: “You must believe in Heathcliff’s love for Cathy”

Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi met in Paris for the press conference and the preview of the new adaptation by Emerald Fennell.

On February 11, Emerald Fennell’s new film, Stormwindwill be released in French cinemas.

She is Cathy, he is Heathcliff. It’s the most anticipated romance of the year, the adaptation of Wuthering Heights by the director of Promising Young Woman features Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in a passionate and tragic relationship.

In the meantime, on February 2, the film team had an appointment for a press conference at the Bristolthe luxurious hotel nestled in the 8th arrondissement, just a few hours before the premiere at the Grand Rex.

To reach the conference room, you have to cross the long white checkerboard corridor of the hotel, passing through the alluring French Garden, to the Salon de Versailles where the journalists’ meeting was held. Along the way, we meet the influencer Lena Situationsmicrophone in hand, in the opulent Salon Castellane. She also surely has meetings with the star actors.

The Bristolin a theatrical and aristocratic setting inspired by the 18th century, seems to be the perfect reproduction of the atmosphere of Emerald Fennell’s feature film.

Crystal chandeliers, painted decors, reproducing the garden of Versailles, the living room in which the film crew sat is an extension of the decor of Stormwind.

At the front of the pale green room, there was a pink scene, in the colors of the film. We read there Stormwind in embroidered white letters.

A landscape reminiscent of that of Sofia Coppola’s feature film, Marie Antoinettewho shot his film in the sumptuous Château de Versailles. A pop and baroque film in the image of new romance by Emerald Fennell.

A few dozen minutes of waiting before seeing the hottest actors of the moment arrive: Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, followed by the director. The conference comes alive: “Don’t be shy” says the mediator to the journalists. A short silence and hands are raised. Emerald and Margot follow up with questions. The director continues to demonstrate her fascination for the main character: “Cathy is a character who transcends time and space. I always loved her.”

The actress recalls that she is also a producer of the film with her company LuckyChap Entertainment, before responding to a journalist on how she approached the role: “I approach my characters in a different way each time: for certain roles I write dreams, thoughts, memories linked to the character, but for Cathy something over-prepared didn’t seem right. Cathy is an impulsive character. I focused on the spontaneity of his feelings.”

The filming of Stormwind was an intense emotional journey for both actors, where fiction seemed to have overtaken reality. Margot Robbie reported in the columns of Fandangohaving developed a codependent relationship with her playing partner, feeling “disconcerted and disoriented” as soon as Jacob Elordi disappeared from the board.

Asked about the intensity of their relationship, the interpreter of Heathcliff revealed having met Margot Robbie two weeks before filming, allowing him to create a real bond with the actress. Jacob Elordi did not seem to have completely left his character: “There’s only one thing you need to be sure of to replicate that intensity, and that’s that you truly believe in the bond between Heathcliff and Cathy.

An emotional journey that spectators discovered the same evening during the preview at the Grand Rex. Margot Robbie had abandoned her casual afternoon look for a corseted evening dress in the image of her character, Cathy.

Stormwinda 2.0 adaptation in theaters on February 11 in French cinemas.
