The audiences are good, The Rings of Power will continue well
Prime Video reveals the scores for season 2. Management is satisfied. “There is no debate, the series will continue.”
While the order for season 3 is still awaited, the Amazon boss wants to be reassuring. In an interview with Variety, Jennifer Salke, director of Amazon MGM Studios, confides that The Rings of Power should continue as planned.
She first reveals the audience figures for season 2, which ended last week: “Over 70 million people at this point have engaged since the launch of Season 2. And if you look at the long-term trajectory – what you do when you have an asset like that – we see that there is a long-term investment in this franchise among subscribers. There are well over 100 million viewers watching and engaging with the series. So it’s really good.”
Season 1’s audience reached around 150 million, and Salke hopes season 2 will eventually approach that figure.
As a result, the project of telling the stories of Rings of Power through 5 seasons is still on track. “We will continue to produce this series as long as we have customers around the world who love and watch it. It’s still a business and obviously we need a lot of people to watch the show (to justify the investment). Today there are many people in front The Rings of Powerso there is no debate. The series will continue.
The director Charlotte Brändström told us recently: “The pump is already primed. Writing for season 3 has begun. And we will shoot in 2025.“
