The Lumière Festival will celebrate 100 years of Disney with a screening of The Jungle Book
Spectators will have the chance to sing along with Baloo and Mowgli!
In 2023, Walt Disney Studios will celebrate its 100th anniversary. 100 years of films and characters that have gone down in posterity, become timeless figures for children (and adults) of all generations. To celebrate this exceptional anniversary, the Light Festival will see things big during its next edition, which will take place from October 14 to 22, 2023.
On October 15 at 3 p.m., the people of Lyon (but not only) will have the opportunity to (re)see in the hall of the Halle Tony Garnier The jungle Book (1967) by Wolfgang Reitherman, a great classic from the golden age of Disney studios in the 1960s, which tells the story of Mowgli, a young boy living in the jungle alongside several animals, having to fight against the threat that represents the tiger Shere Khan for him and his friend the bear Baloo. This decade of the 1960s was extremely pivotal for Disney, enjoying phenomenal success thanks to films like 101 Dalmatians (1961), Merlin the wizard (1963) or even Mary Poppins (1964).
Each year, the Lumière Festival celebrates cinema for young and old through the screening of a film projected on the screen of the Halle Tony Garnier. When Tim Burton was awarded the Lumière Prize last year, another great classic from the Disney house was proposed, with The strange Christmas of Mr. Jacka project imagined and written by Tim Burton, but directed by Henry Selick.
This year, it is Wim Wenders who will receive the coveted Lumière Prize, which will reward an extremely rich career, which began in the early 1970s in Germany and has been marked by a number of great works, such asAlice in the cities, Paris, Texas, Wings of Desireand more recently Perfect Dayspresented at the last Cannes Film Festival.
