The new Guillaume Canet with Marion Cotillard reveals its first image and its synopsis
The director returns to the thriller with Karma, where we will also find Denis Ménochet and Luis Zahera.
On May 28, Guillaume Canet announced the end of his 9th feature film as director. Karma will be released in cinemas on October 21, 2026, distributed by Pathé Films, and today we are discovering a first image of the film with Marion Cotillard, who plays the leading role.
“It’s a very important film for me, very special, a return to the thriller after “Don’t Tell Anyone” and I can’t wait to show you images… I was extremely lucky to work in a magnificent atmosphere with an extraordinary team!“, explained the filmmaker at the end of filming, which was shared between France and Spain.
The official synopsis promises a gripping film, where Marion Cotillard will play a woman who tries to escape justice. To give him the answer, Canet recruited the Argentinian actor Leonardo Sbaraglia (Lives burned, The New Savages) and reformed the terrible duo ofAs BestasDenis Ménochet and Luis Zahera.
In a village in the north of Spain, Jeanne tries to rebuild her life with Daniel, who knows nothing of her troubled past.
One day, Mateo, Jeanne’s six-year-old godson, mysteriously disappears…
In order to escape the police who quickly suspect her, Jeanne takes refuge in France in a religious community in which she was born and which she fled a few years previously.
Daniel does not believe in the guilt of the woman he loves and will do everything to find her before the police.
Karma is the 9th collaboration between Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard, who last worked together on Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom (2003), where the actress played Cleopatra. The screenplay is co-signed by Simon Jacquet, known until now for his work as an editor.
