Disney Plus announces the date of The Testaments, the sequel to The Handmaid's Tale

The Testaments will have a season 2

Disney has officially ordered the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale sequel.

The dystopian universe imagined by Margaret Atwood continues to expand.

A week before the conclusion of season 1 (scheduled for May 27), the series The Testaments has already been renewed for a season 2 by Disney.

A direct spin-off of The Handmaid’s Tale, the series is set in the same universe and continues the events of the Gilead regime. It notably follows two teenagers, Agnes (played by Chase Infiniti) and Daisy (played by Lucy Halliday), whose trajectories will end up upsetting the balance of the system in place.

The cast also includes Ann Dowd, Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti and many others. To everyone’s surprise, Elisabeth Moss even reappeared as a guest in the role of June Osborne.

Critical reception has been generally positive and The Testaments is already showing strong streaming performance, with over 45 million hours watched globally on Disney+ and Hulu in the US.
