A very cool first 70's trailer for Cliff Booth

Cliff Booth will also be released in IMAX theaters before Netflix

David Fincher’s film will be released in cinemas in November in the USA, before arriving in streaming in December on the platform.

What if Netflix was watching the big screen with gentle eyes?

The platform has just announced that The Adventures of Cliff Booththe spin-off/semi-sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywoodwill finally benefit from a real event release in theaters… in IMAX.

The film directed by David Fincher, written by Quentin Tarantino and starring Brad Pitt, will be released exclusively in American IMAX theaters for two weeks from November 25, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on December 23. We do not yet know what will happen in France (media chronology obliges).

Cliff Booth actually recovers the Thanksgiving box initially reserved for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew by Greta Gerwig. The project was finally postponed to 2027. A postponement which allows the return of Tarantino’s cult stuntman to enjoy premium exposure on giant screens.

In this new film, Brad Pitt reprises his character as an aging and disillusioned stuntman, a role which earned him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The plot still remains largely secret, but the story will take place in 1977, in “a very different Hollywood” according to the official synopsis.

Around Brad Pitt, the casting of Cliff Booth will also bring together Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian.

The most interesting thing in this story is that Netflix seems to be increasing its experiments around theatrical releases. After a few limited outings for KPop Demon Hunters or the finale of Stranger Thingsthe platform continues discreetly to test the terrain of traditional cinema, even if its leaders still ensure that streaming remains the absolute priority. The failed takeover of Warner Bros. does not seem to have cooled the ardor of the giant at N Rouge, determined to become a Hollywood studio in the noble sense.

Symbol of this evolution: the American cinema chain AMC, long hostile to Netflix films, will screen well Cliff Booth in its IMAX complexes. A small revolution in Hollywood.
