The female faces of the great biopic in 4 parts on Beatles signed Sam Mendes are starting to become clearer.
New names are circulating insistently. For the moment, the contracts have not yet been signed, and Sony Pictures has made no official comment. But this is what it should look like.
Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono (wife of John Lennon played by Harris Dickinson)
The Japanese artist and singer, muse and inseparable partner of John Lennon, could soon be reborn on screen in the guise of Anna Sawai. View in Pachinko and won the Emmy Awards for Shogunthe actress would become the first Yoko Ono in the big biopic orchestrated by Sam Mendes. Lennon and Ono were married in 1969, before the singer was murdered in 1980 in front of the Dakota Building in New York. Sawai would share the poster with Harris Dickinson, who will play Lennon.
Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd (partner of George Harrison played by Joseph Quinn)
Icon of Swinging London, adored model and eternal muse of two legendary guitarists, Pattie Boyd has found her interpreter: Aimee Lou Wood, revealed by Sex Education and recently dazzling in season 3 of The White Lotus. Boyd met George Harrison (played by Joseph Quinn) at age 19 on the set of A Hard Day’s Night. Married in 1966, separated in 1977, she then married Eric Clapton. On the networks, the real Boyd greeted the news with humor, writing that she “hoped to meet” her film double.
Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney (wife of Paul McCartney played by Paul Mescal)
Photographer, activist, musician, Linda McCartney will be played by Saoirse Ronan in the film dedicated to Paul. The Irish actress, four times nominated for an Oscar, will play the lifelong partner of the ex-Beatle, with whom she formed the group Wings after the quartet broke up. A fusional couple, on stage and in the city, whose complicity and creativity form an essential part of the McCartney legend.
Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey (wife of Ringo Starr played by Barry Keoghan)
Less known to the general public, Maureen Starkey was nevertheless one of the silent pillars of the Beatlesmania. It’s Mia McKenna-Bruce (seen in How to Have Sex) who will play the wife of Ringo Starr, married to the drummer from 1965 to 1975. Their story, marked by tours, jealousy and fatigue of the 70s, will provide an intimate counterpoint to the frenzy of the group.
Sam Mendes’ project is one of the most ambitious ever undertaken on the Beatles: four separate feature films, each told from the point of view of a member of the group, which will intersect to trace their meteoric rise from Liverpool to legend. All four films will hit theaters in April 2028, in what Sony describes as “the first binge experience at the cinema”. McCartney, Starr and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison granted full musical and biographical rights, making this quadrilogy the first official adaptation validated by the Beatles themselves.
