Universal Theory: an enigmatic thriller that theorizes the multiverse (trailer)
Johannes finds himself trapped by his theory, failing to convince the quantum physics community.
It is in the Swiss Alps that a physics congress is supposed to take place. Johannes, 32, is a doctoral student in physics and intends to defend his theory on the existence of parallel worlds (the famous multiverse, widely used in comic book adaptations in recent years, but also in Everything Everywhere All at Once). Except that here we are in the early 60s. And no one seems convinced by his demonstrations, not even his thesis director!
However, events come to sow trouble in the snowy and mountainous landscapes: disappearances, moments of uncertainty that call reality into question. And what about the romantic relationship with Karin, this pianist who seems to know everything about him? A cave shelters the mystery of all strange…
Here is the trailer for this astonishing project entitled Universal Theory :
Everything Everywhere All at Once, the true multiverse of madness (review)
“In terms of design, I wanted to obtain a classic cut, and get closer to the aesthetics found in Frank Capra, Orson Welles, Helmut Käutner and even later in Truffaut or Spielberg, for whom we speak of “radical traditionalism”. Here the adventure film meets film noir, the German mountain film meets a whiff of New Wave”, said Timm Kroeger (The Council of Birds), German director of this romantic fresco.
The casting of the film leaves room for a new generation of actors with Jan Bülow And Olivia Ross (Killing Eve, Personal Shopper), but also stars of the film set with David Bennent in the role of commissioner (The drum of Volker Schlöndorff, Legend) And Hanns Zischler in the shoes of the demanding academic tutor (Munich).
The film won the Golden Bisato for best film awarded by independent critics (Venice Mostra 2023) as well as the Audience Award and the Canal+ New Genre Grand Prize.
Universal Theory will submit his thesis on February 21, 2024 in cinemas.
