Wolfs, with George Clooney and Brad Pitt: beware, there is a (big) wolf! (critical)
Stars, cool and action? That’s the promise of this buddy movie which comes out this Friday on Apple TV+, but…
After a presentation you couldn’t be more glamorous the Venice Film Festival, Brad Pitt And George Clooney arriving this Friday on Apple TV+ in Wolfsby Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car, the last Spider-Man). Is this action comedy worth watching? Especially if you liked this duo of good friends in the saga Ocean’s ? Unfortunately, for Firstthe answer is no. Here is our review of the film, considered by the editorial staff to be a big disappointment.
George Clooney and Brad Pitt have fun in a thriller with a somewhat hackneyed plot. Stars, cool and action? Be careful, there is a (big) wolf!
The wolves of the title are Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Two “fix” or cleaners. Guys responsible for cleaning up crime scenes or disguising macabre stories to exonerate the powerful of this world. They work alone, have no official identities, and must remain discreet. Invisible. When the two men find themselves on the same case, the trouble (and the adventure) begins.
THE ” concept “ of the film doesn’t even pretend to be a real pitch. Basically, the only promise of Wolfs – a priori exciting – it’s to see the two biggest Hollywood stars (one a little faded, but the other still at its peak) give each other the answer, play the role of complicity, occupy the frame and blow up the glamor meters in a tailor-made plot. Velvet then. Imagine. Imagine that George and Brad invite you to their birthday party. The result is… heartbreaking. Insulting even.
Especially when we love these two actors. The total lack of fun, the glaring absence of chemistry between the two stars, worse: their refusal to make the slightest effort to wrap up a gag, to give a little sparkle to a scene or an attitude is astonishing. Of a distressing laziness, Wolfs ends up looking like a compilation of Nespresso commercials. What else ? Nothing. We were invited to a party organized by these two cool geniuses, but the party turned out to be shabby – lukewarm champagne without bubbles, spoiled cake and lousy music.
