1992: Netflix announces a new event series by Álex de la Iglesia
A criminal mystery around the Universal Exhibition of 1992 in Seville.
Mysterious murders with the only thing in common is the Curro doll, emblematic mascot of the Universal Exhibition in Seville, in 1992… The filmmaker’s new project Alex de la Iglesia will be on Netflix. The Spanish director, to whom we owe The Day of the Beast (1995) and more recently The Witches of Zugarramurd (2013) will sign 1992a crime series full of mystery for the platform, as announced by the streamer this week.

The pitch announces:After her husband dies in a strange explosion, Amparo begins to search for answers with the sole help of Richi, a security guard, ex-cop and alcoholic. Meanwhile, a series of murders following the same modus operandi are taking place: the victims are burned and a doll of Curro, the emblematic mascot of the 1992 Universal Exhibition in Seville, is placed near the bodies.“
In the casting, we will find Marian Álvarez (Wounded), Fernando Valdivielso (Venus), Paz Vega (Sex and Lucia) and Carlos Santos (Smoke & Mirrors).
