Big Little Lies will return! HBO formalizes season 3

It’s now official: Big Little Lies will return for a season 3 on HBO.

The chain has just entrusted the writing of the first episode to Francesca Sloane, co-creator of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (that of Prime Video), who will also officiate as an executive producer alongside David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. The two actresses will once again lead the casting.

For several months, rumors were going well: as early as November 2023, Nicole Kidman had suggested that a new chapter could emerge. But no official confirmation has been given so far.

What story for season 3?

Season 1 adapted the eponymous novel of Liane Moriarty, while season 2 was based on unprecedented material written by the author. A new novel by Moriarty, following Big Little Lies, is expected in 2026. And logically, we say that the scripts could base on it.

What casting?

Who will come back alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, already announced? For the time being, no info. But the series included Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling, without forgetting Meryl Streep, who came to join the adventure in season 2. So who will still be in Monterey in season 3? Too early to say, but Shailene Woodley has already displayed her enthusiasm on Instagram, sharing a photo with Zoë Kravitz and Laura Dern accompanied by the message: “We Are So Back… Big Little Lies 3, You Ready ???” A sign.

No filming or broadcasting date has so far been announced by HBO. The series will be seen in France on HBO Max. It will certainly not be before 2027.
