Lily-Rose Depp unrecognizable on the set of the new Robert Eggers
The director of Nosferatu takes on the werewolf in Werwulf. Production on the dark tale is underway in the UK.
The production of Werwulfthe next gothic nightmare from Robert Eggers, continues in the United Kingdom… and the images that filter through already set the tone.
We saw Aaron Taylor-Johnson, covered in blood, screaming until his lungs were torn apart – there’s no doubt, he’s the werewolf.
Now, new photos show a totally unrecognizable Lily-Rose Depp, far from her usual glamour, as well as Willem Dafoe in full possession of his character. The atmosphere? Let’s just say that it will be the feel-good movie of 2026, as some members of the team joke.

On Instagram, a sound technician who worked on the film said that after reading the script for Werwulfhe had “need a hug”…
During a Q&A at Lincoln Center, Eggers himself described Werwulf as “the darkest thing I have ever written”. And coming from the filmmaker of The Lighthouse And Nosferatuthe announcement already sends shivers.

Described as a Gothic horror fresco, Werwulf brings together a four-star cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson.
The film takes place in 13th century England and, even if no official details have leaked, the title leaves little room for doubt: yes, it should be about a werewolf – but Robert Eggers version, therefore probably far from Hollywood clichés.
Shot on 35mm, in 1.37:1 format, Werwulf will be released Christmas 2026 by Focus Features.
