Timothée Chalamet breaks records with his 2026 Oscar nominations
The Marty Supreme actor gets to know two Hollywood legends.
Timothée Chalamet breaks all records with his double nomination for the 2026 Oscars for Marty Supremewhere he plays American ping-pong champion Marty Reisman.
A few weeks after celebrating his 30th birthday and winning the Golden Globe for best actor, he became the youngest actor to accumulate three nominations for the Oscar for best actor since Marlon Brando. Chalamet was previously nominated in this category in 2018 for his role in Call me by your namethe film by Luca Guadagnino, and a second time in 2025 for A Perfect Stranger in which he plays the musician Bob Dylan.
Marlon Brando achieved this feat a month and a half before his 30th birthday, for his performance in a Streetcar Named Desire, Long live Zapata! And Julius Caesar. Brando had to wait for his fourth nomination to win the prestigious statuette, with On the docksin 1954.
But that’s not all. Chalamet received another nomination at the 2026 Academy Awards, as producer of Marty Supreme. And here again, he sets a record for precocity. He is now ahead of Warren Beatty and his double nomination for Bonnie & Clydein 1968.
However, the promotion of the film Marty Supreme was not unanimous. Jacket Marty Supremeinflatable balloon in the colors of the film, fake marketing video broadcast by A24, appearance of the Chalamet/Jenner couple all in orange, series of Instagram posts featuring a host of celebrities (from Kendall Jenner to Kid Cudi) wearing a sweatshirt bearing the image of the film, Timothée Chalamet did not skimp on the promotion of Josh Safdie’s feature film (Uncut Gems).
The actor confided to First that this promotion reflected the times: “It’s more than involvement, actually: it’s a way of life. Because that’s what the times demand. People’s attention span is so short today… How do we convince them to go to the cinema, to spend money to see a film, rather than waiting to stream it illegally, or for it to be available on Netflix? (…) I have an audience, so I challenge them, and I give 150%.”
In the casting of Josh Safdie’s film, we find alongside the young prodigy Gwyneth Paltrow (The Talented Mr. Ripley) Odessa A’zion ( Until Dawn: Death Without End) and Fran Drescher (A Nanny from Hell). Marty Supreme will be released in France on February 18. And we will know on the night of March 15 to 16 if Timothée Chalamet will become the second youngest actor to win the golden statuette, after Adrien Brody for The Pianist.
