Sophie Turner as Lara Croft: the first images from the shoot are heavy
Production has begun and a video has leaked online showing the British star in action.
Sophie Turner gets into the action.
Seen in the middle of filming the Tomb Raider series for Prime Video, the former star of Game of Thrones is already establishing herself as an ultra physical Lara Croft, at the heart of explosive action sequences, filmed and shared by the Daily Mail across the Channel.
Filming is currently underway in Surrey, England, where Sophie Turner was seen in the middle of a shootout, double guns in hand. Between nervous gunfights and demanding stunts, everything indicates intense preparation beforehand. These videos captured near the set offer the best overview to date of this ambitious adaptation. We see Lara shooting enemies off-screen, before throwing a grenade through a narrow window… a move directly inherited from video games.
Another detail that will speak to fans: the use of the famous double pistols, long emblematic of the franchise. The series clearly seems to reconnect with Lara’s historical DNA.
A video of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft on the set of the live-action Tomb Raider series for Amazon Prime Video has also been shared by @DailyMailUK!

As for the costume, no more iconic tank top and shorts. The new Lara Croft opts for a more realistic outfit: khaki cargo pants, brown sweater under a blue vest, belt with holsters. All complemented by high black boots, a knife slipped on the upper and a small backpack. The hair is tied in a braid, in a functional, no-nonsense adventurer aesthetic.
Few details about the plot have leaked, except that the project is described as an “epic” and “international” adventure, in the words of Jennifer Salke, boss of Amazon MGM.
Behind the camera, we will notably find the English author Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The Fleabag star will serve as creator and executive producer, and will also co-write the scripts with Chad Hodge, who will serve as co-showrunner. Jonathan van Tulleken will direct several episodes.
In the rest of the cast we will see Martin Bobb-Semple, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon…
