Rooster already renewed for season 2 by HBO Max

Steve Carell will return for another year at college.

HBO didn’t delay. Its new comedy Rooster has already landed a season 2, driven by a solid start: the first four episodes attracted an average of 5.8 million viewers in the United States. A score which quite simply makes it the most viewed HBO comedy for a first season in over ten years.

Produced by Warner Bros. Television, this season 1 has 10 episodes, broadcast from March 9 until the finale scheduled for May 11, with a parallel release online on HBO Max.

On the HBO side, the enthusiasm is total. Amy Gravitt, in charge of comedy, says: “It’s a real joy to see audiences respond to Rooster the way we did when they discovered Steve, Bill and Matt playing this character. We can’t wait to see what the spring semester at Ludlow has in store for this troupe.”

For his part, Bill Lawrence does not hide his gratitude: “We thank HBO and Warner for their trust, as well as all the teams. Continuing this series with Steve and this group is a highlight in our careers – especially for Matt.”

Rooster marks Steve Carell’s return to television comedy, in the shoes of a writer of successful station novels who becomes a teacher at the university where his daughter teaches, to help her, while she is at rock bottom after being cheated on by her husband. Without doubt his best role in a long time.
