Percy Jackson: the Disney+ series unveils its ambitious trailer
The bestselling novel series returns to the platform with a brand new cast.
Percy Jackson, teens’ favorite demigods, is back in series format on the Disney+ platform. Season 1 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians takes up the plot of volume 1 of the novels and the first film released in 2010. Percy Jackson is a 12-year-old young man who is a little isolated, bullied at school and in difficulty. The day he discovers his relationship with the mythical Gods of Olympus and his powers, his life changes radically. Accused by the powerful Zeus (embodied by Fire Lance Reddick) for stealing his Lightning Bolt, Percy embarks on an epic quest to restore truth and order in the kingdom of the Gods.
Adapted from literary bestsellers fantasy written by Rick Riordan and published between 2005 and 2010, this first season highlights a whole new cast of young actors to play the half-bloods: Walker Scobell, Leah Jeffries And Aryan Simhadri will play respectively Percy, Annabeth and the satyr Grover.
The actors are younger than those in the films: Walker at 14, Leah is 13 and Aryan17, while the trio in the 2010 film showed 18 years for Logan Lerman24 years old for Alexandra Daddario and 26 years for Brandon T. Jackson. The original author is also on the series’ creative team, which justifies the choice of a younger cast, more in line with the novels.
The trailer reveals a small part of the mythical bestiary that makes up the saga: furies, centaurs and other minotaurs. The first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will be available on December 20, 2023 on Disney+.
