Already 2.5 million entries for Michael in France

Prada 2 passed the million mark for its first week, Compostelle and Juste une Illusion too. For his part, Mario now has 5 million on the clock.

Fans of the King of Pop are rushing to theaters in France.

For the second consecutive week, Michael occupies first place at the French box office. The biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua garners more than a million new admissions and after two weeks totals some 2.6 million French spectators, in an average audience of 540 theaters. It is already the third biggest success of the year 2026 for us (behind Marsupilami And Mario) ! An impressive score, which allows the film about the life of Michael Jackson to stand up to Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.

Big release of the week, The devil wears Prada 2 debuts in second place, with more than 1 million admissions in 505 theaters. An excellent launch, much higher than that of the first part, which at the same time reached 650,000 tickets sold in 2006. The comedy about fashion finished above 2 million. Twenty years later, the sequel is on track to do much better.

Still on the podium but relegated to third position, Super Mario Galaxy keeps in shape thanks to its enormous distribution (more than 1000 theaters). The animated film was seen by 380,000 more spectators in its fifth week, and thus exceeds the milestone of 5 million admissions in France. It’s still significantly worse than the first opus which reached 6.5 million after 5 weeks (to end up at more than 7 million).

Three American films monopolize the first three places in the ranking. But French cinema is not doing so badly.

The new Nakache and Toledano well exceeds the million threshold. Just an illusionan 80’s comedy by Camille Cottin and Louis Garrel, maintains excellent attendance in 900 theaters and posts 1.3 million admissions after three weeks. It’s a little less than The meaning of the party at the same time (1.7 million to end up at 3 million in 2018).

Just behind, Compostela confirms to be the pleasant surprise of spring in terms of French cinema. The initiatory drama carried by Alexandra Lamy passes one million admissions in 700 theaters.
