The Harry Potter series is already revealing its behind the scenes on HBO Max: trailer

Season 2 of the Harry Potter series, Chamber of Secrets, will be filmed in the fall

HBO has officially ordered the sequel to speed up production.

Even before the launch of its first season, the new Harry Potter series is already securing its future.

HBO has officially ordered a season 2 of the television adaptation of JK Rowling’s novels, confirming in passing that filming will begin this fall. This second season will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, continuing the studio’s plan to turn each of the seven books into a distinct season over the course of a decade.

Season 1, expected next Christmas, will bear the title Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, taking the British name of the first novel (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in French). We will follow Harry, played by Dominic McLaughlin, at the age of 11, when he receives his admission letter to Hogwarts and discovers the wizarding world.

Behind the scenes, the series also continues to be structured. Jon Brown, screenwriter of the first season, is promoted to co-showrunner for this season 2 alongside Francesca Gardiner.

“As we organized a production schedule that directly segues into the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2 this fall, it became clear that having a co-showrunner was essential to maintaining our momentum,” says Gardiner.

She adds: “I’ve loved working with Jon since we met on Succession. I have a lot of admiration for his writing, but also for his way of collaborating.”

For his part, Jon Brown says he’s experiencing this promotion like a daydream: “It’s an immense pleasure to collaborate with Francesca as co-showrunner. Writing on Philosopher’s Stone has been an incredible experience, and I thank HBO for its trust in continuing this adventure. Apparently, you’re never too old to receive your Hogwarts letter.”

With this anticipated renewal and filming already planned, HBO is clearly showing its desire to establish Harry Potter as an annual event, capable of ensuring an intense broadcast rhythm for a decade.
