Matt Damon ready to make Jason Bourne 6
Ten years after his final appearance in the skin of the amnesiac spy, the actor assures that he has not turned the page and is still looking for the right idea to revive one of the biggest action franchises of the 2000s.
It’s already been 10 years since Matt Damon last played Jason Bourne in the cinema.
Since the release of Jason Bourne in 2016, the famous amnesiac spy disappeared from the screens. A long absence which could suggest that the franchise now belongs to the past. However, the American actor assures today that the desire for a sixth film is still in the pipeline.
Interviewed by Parade magazine, Matt Damon confirmed that discussions around a return of Bourne had never really stopped.
“We’re always looking to do another one because we loved those films, as did everyone who worked on them.”he explains. “There’s always someone trying to write a new story. So if you have an idea, let us know!“
The absence of a new component for a decade cannot therefore be explained by a lack of interest. On the contrary. Several attempts have been launched in recent years to revive the machine. In 2023, a new project was notably entrusted to Edward Berger, the director of In the West, nothing newone of Netflix’s great critical successes. But at the time, no script had been finalized and Matt Damon’s participation was not yet assured.
However, the Bourne franchise remains one of the most influential in modern action cinema. With its realistic approach to espionage, its nervous staging and its hero haunted by his past, it largely contributed to redefining the genre in the early 2000s.
Now it remains to find the idea capable of bringing Jason Bourne out of retirement.
