The new series Prison Break begins filming and reveals a first teaser

The prison franchise returns with Prison Break: Black Creek, a new iteration for Disney+, which takes the original universe but completely reverses its concept.

Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows will leave their place to a new generation.

Hulu – available on Disney+ in France – has just revealed the first teaser for Prison Break: Black Creek, as this new series derived from the franchise has started filming.

But longtime fans should expect a radical change in perspective. This time, it won’t be about a man trying to break someone out of prison. The story follows a woman who voluntarily accepts a position in one of the most dangerous prisons in the country.

In Prison Break: Black Creek, the heroine will be played by Emily Browning who plays Cassidy, a new recruit who is about to discover a particularly violent prison world from the inside. She will notably be accompanied by Lukas Gage, who plays Jackson, a wealthy politician launching his first campaign to enter Congress, and Drake Rodger, in the role of Tommy, an inmate who has already spent ten years behind bars.

The cast also includes Clayton Cardenas as Ghost, a particularly dangerous prisoner, and Myles Bullock, who plays Darius “Red” Lewis, another inmate trying to survive the power struggles tearing the prison apart.

As for the new recruits, Georgie Flores plays Andrea, a cadet who follows the same training as Cassidy. JR Bourne plays Junior, a character directly linked to the past of Black Creek. He is described as a mentally unstable survivor of an escape that took place decades earlier and left the nearby town devastated.

A new story in the same universe

Created by Elgin James, known in particular for Mayans MC and The Outlaws, Prison Break: Black Creek will therefore tell a whole new story in the universe of the franchise.

Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows will not be at the center of the story, and there is no indication yet that their interpreters, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, will return.

The Prison Break franchise, created by Paul Scheuring, began in 2005 and followed for four seasons engineer Michael Scofield, who was voluntarily incarcerated in order to organize the escape of his brother Lincoln. A fifth season was broadcast in 2017.

With Black Creek, Hulu therefore intends to retain the prison DNA of Prison Break while telling an entirely new story, with new characters and a heroine at the heart of the system.
